I believe that Gun Dog Training for Retrievers should be fun! At dreamlike4paws, I offer reward-based gun dog training tailored to your specific needs. Training takes place at a location of your choosing, and the focus is always on building a strong, cooperative relationship between you and your dog as you learn to hunt together as a team. My goal is to help you raise a well-mannered, focused, and joyful Retriever - while making sure the experience is fun for everyone involved. We’ll often train with bumpers and canvas dummies, and when appropriate, birds may also be used. I do not use prong collars, e-collars, or any aversive methods. I’ve trained my own hunting dogs without them and strongly believe they’re not necessary in any training scenario. Instead, I use clear communication, structured setups, and creativity to help you and your dog succeed without pain or fear. An added bonus? When your dog is allowed to use their nose and engage in instinctual work with you as a partner, your relationship will naturally reach a new level of trust and connection. A dog who gets to do what they were bred for—with joy and purpose—is a happy dog! Skills we will work on together: • Heelwork • Hold • Verbal and whistle cues • Setups and marking • Memories and blinds • Steadiness • Water training • Directional work (back, left, right) • …and more, depending on your goals Session Details: • All training is fun and reward-based • Some portions may be recorded for your personal reference • Sessions last 45–60 minutes depending on your dog’s focus and energy • Training takes place in various outdoor locations as needed • A list of required equipment will be provided • No e-collars, choke chains, or prong collars used - ever Please note: All new clients are required to complete a one-time Virtual Intake & Orientation Session before booking.
